Been delving deep into the art files on my PC, redoing file names to fit my current organizational standards. (Why, yes, I AM rather OCD about file names.) Finding some stuff I never got around to editing and sharing online. So...gonna be a bit of a minor flurry of activity as I deal with this 'forgotten' art. A chunk of it is gonna super-old stuff from my school days. (I'm old. In high school, the only online art gallery site was Elfwood, which has long since ceased to exist.)
So...yeah. Spelunking into my PC files is turning up some neat art that I either forgot about or never had a chance to share decades ago. Might even do a "then vs. now" re-draw of some pieces to show how I've gotten better over the years.
In other news, my cat fell out of the car and hurt her hips (bruised; not broken) last month. She's been not-right since, with leg spasms like there's a pinched nerve or something. Vet can't find anything, but gave me meds and they seem to be helping. Sonne turns 18 this coming June, so she is not a young mew. I hope she recovers from whatever's going on there.
Hello, 2022. Can you be over now?
The new year has been Extremely Stressful. My New Year's Resolution is to end this year in a better state than I started it.
New Year's Eve, my uncle had a heart attack. He passed away several days later. Dad is Executor, so he's been handling all the arrangements and notifications and sorting out Uncle's affairs. I've been helping Dad as much as I can. So that's been massively sucktastic. (Although it was nice to see how many people held Uncle in high regard. He was an expert on native plants, and met a lot of interesting people. We even got a condolence card from former First Lady Josalynn Carter on behalf of herself and her husband.)
One of my cousins was in a car wreck. Totaled their car, but they walked away with just bruises. Extremely Lucky. (It was the other person's fault. Illegal U-turn.)
My favorite "fluffy cousin" died. Max the Labrador was old and had a long list of health issues. It was his time. But I dog-sat for him often, so I'll miss him.
My brother and SiL caught Plague. Mild case, luckily, but it still sucks they got sick.
Dad got bit by a copperhead. It was just a tiny little baby snek, and a dry bite (so no venom), but his finger still swole up and was painful enough he couldn't use his hand properly for a while.
Mom had hip surgery. Simple outpatient procedure, but still a significant stress event on top of everything else.
All this over the course of three weeks. I sincerely hope things improve from here.
Firstly, I Despise DA's new (current) format. It's clunky, awkward, takes forever to load, and hurts my eyes. Much preferred the old format. This new monstrosity is obviously formatted for touchscreen devices with small screens; not proper computers. This new "journal" thing...I hate it. Whoever thought this was a good idea needs to be forced walk across a lego-loving small child's messy bedroom barefooted.
Secondly, it's time for a significant pruning of the gallery. A lot of older stuff is gonna get either moved to Scraps, or deleted completely. Anyone who cares about the old stuff should already have snagged it (most of what's going was drawn for others). If by chance I delete something done for someone who never got around to saving it to their own computer, I keep all (and I mean ALL) my old artwork files. So if you need a copy of the file, I can provide it upon request.
And third, I'm open for commissions. (Not that I expect much interest via DA since the current site format puts me off posting here.) But if interested, check out www.gryphicdesigns.com I can do custom versions of anything you see in my shop. My little magnets make especially good gifts. And of course, I do ink and colored pencil drawings.
